How to Create And Maintain a Traffic Generating Blog

What is a blog and where do I get one? A blog is simply an online diary of sorts consisting of your niche related content. You could use your blog (as many do) to post relevant content about your site or products. If you are a author, when you submit articles to directories, post them on your blog as well. The most popular blog programs are wordpress and blogger, both offer free accounts. WordPress at least can be set up directly on your existing website and fully integrated and customized. I have not used blogger however it is my understanding that they offer a fully customized version as well.

Create a blog everyone wants to read. You have to post original content that has significant value to your readers. Create content that inspires others to take action, that is how you can establish yourself as an authority in your chosen niche. When writing, write for your visitors not just search engines. That means do not keyword stuff your content making it useless garbage. Write like you would if you were writing to a friend, if it sounds boring people won’t read it or come back for more.

How do I get people to read and go to my blog? First and foremost up to date content. Keep people interested. You should make posts 3 to 4 times a week. You don’t want to overdo it otherwise it will look like spamming to the search engines. Promote your blog in forums, referred to as forum marketing and make comments on other blogs. Both of these options give you precious back links which will drive traffic to your blog. My favorite personally is article marketing, writing and submitting articles to 5 or so of the top article directories.

Blogs are a great way to communicate with potential customers. Your blog must be well maintained and unique to get regular readers. Blogging can also be an income stream delivering you thousands of extra monthly dollars.
